A Night to Remember

Summer vacation is here! Lazy days, warmth, training for yet another triathlon race, and… a sudden surprise trip to London to see Adele? What? O.o

Because of unforeseen and very unfortunate circumstances that had fallen a friend, I found myself holding two tickets to see one of Adele’s Wembley Stadium shows (!!!!). After a mad scramble for hotels, flights and yes, even the one friend to share the night with, I found myself leaving work on Wednesday, June 28, and making my way straight to the airport. London was calling!

I haven’t been to London in ages, and I decided that I wanted to see all the sights on Thursday again, before the evening’s show. It was also a way for me to keep my mind off of the evening, because I was quite nervous about going to the show. Not only would it be the largest concert I’d ever been to, but I also had tickets that did not have my name on them. My friend had written me a letter explaining her situation as advised by the organizer, in case someone asked for IDs.

After meeting J at King’s Cross station (be still, my Potterhead heart), we left our things at our hotel before getting to the Wembley Stadium. It was a sudden flashback to Adele’s concert in Stockholm for me, what with all the ticket holders on the tube, and masses and masses of people making their way from the tube station towards the stadium. A lot more people this time, though, haha! I was very giddy, what with the amount of people, the size of the stadium ohmygod, and the whole night, but at least I gave J something to laugh about for a while there 😀

We got in surprisingly quickly, and then we started to hunt down food and official merchandise. We had meant to eat something before going to the stadium, but I was worried about getting stuck in lines for 2 hours, so we decided to eat once inside instead. I’m a bit bummed I didn’t take a picture inside the stadium. It was HUGE! And lots of food and drink sellers. There was hot dogs, burgers, chips, candy, popcorn, doughnuts, cider and beer, soft drinks, slushies… You name it! We got double cheeseburgers with fries, and I haven’t eaten anything so good in a long, long time. And yes, I was starving. It was 6pm, and I’d only had breakfast that day so far, haha, so that might have something to do with it. But yes, it was very good! Yum, yum 😀

The two hours went by fast. We had a great time just chatting about all kinds of things, and before we knew it, people started making a lot of noise in the golden circle. Show time! And woah, it was amazing. Adele was amazing, the people at the show were amazing. It’s something I can’t properly describe. Even the walk back to the tube station was fun, especially once we were right by the station. People were singing Adele’s songs loudly, haha! Let’s just say it was worth all of it, and I can’t listen to the big hits without tearing up anymore!

Waking up on Saturday to hear the news about the last 2 shows being cancelled was a shock. She was so close to finishing all her shows, and now she had to cancel the last two! So sad for the people who couldn’t enjoy their evening with Adele, but I’m sure she didn’t cancel them with a light heart. She only has the one voice, guys. I hope the shows can be rescheduled, but most of all, I hope that Adele makes a full recovery.
